PSJA North Raiders Triumph in Bi District

PHARR - In a dominant performance at PSJA Stadium, the PSJA North Raiders secured a convincing 43-3 victory over the La Joya Palmview Lobos in a 5A D1 Bi-District playoff game. The win propels the Raiders into the area round for the fourth consecutive season, showcasing their continued excellence in high school football.

The Raiders established control early in the game, demonstrating strength on both offense and defense. Running back Ethan Guerra was a standout player, surpassing 100 yards rushing and contributing both rushing and receiving touchdowns. Guerra's efforts were instrumental in building the Raiders' substantial lead.

Quarterback Darren Garcia effectively managed the game, contributing to the balanced offensive attack with both his passing and rushing abilities. The Raiders accumulated 343 total yards, with 273 yards on the ground and 70 yards through the air.

Defensively, the Raiders' Blackshirt Defense was formidable, limiting the Lobos to a single field goal. The defense consistently pressured La Joya Palmview's offense, resulting in limited yardage and preventing any significant scoring opportunities. The Lobos managed only 130 total yards of offense against the staunch Raiders' defense.

Special teams also played a crucial role in the Raiders' success, providing excellent field position throughout the game. The Raiders capitalized on this advantage, translating it into points on the scoreboard.

The game saw the Raiders' offense executing efficiently, with key contributions from various players. In addition to Guerra's impressive performance, other players such as Ethan Gray and Isaiah Garza made significant plays that helped sustain drives and extend the lead.

The Raiders maintained their composure throughout the game, despite a few moments where tensions rose on the field. Penalties were assessed, including an ejection of a Palmview player in the fourth quarter, but the team remained focused on their objective.

With this victory, the PSJA North Raiders await the outcome of the matchup between San Antonio Jay and New Braunfels to determine their next opponent in the area round. The team is focused on recovery and preparation for the upcoming challenge.

Coach Kauffman emphasized the importance of getting the team ready for the next game, acknowledging that players sustained some minor injuries during the physically demanding contest. The Raiders aim to carry the momentum of this decisive win into the next round of the playoffs. They play Friday 7pm against New Braunfels Unicorns.
