PSJA Memorial Rolls Over Brownsville Rivera, Led by Reyna's All-Around Performance
In a Friday night matchup, PSJA Memorial faced off against Brownsville Rivera, securing a 33-14 win with a strong performance led by quarterback Ryan Reyna and an overall team effort in all phases of the game.
The first quarter started off with a bang as Emi Colunga broke through the defense on a handoff from Ryan Reyna, putting PSJA Memorial on the board early. Reyna followed up with a beautifully executed pass to Robert Morelez for another touchdown, pushing the team’s momentum forward. Kicker Omar Garcia kept the points coming, nailing a field goal to extend the lead.
In the third quarter, Reyna continued his stellar performance with a rushing touchdown of his own, showcasing his dual-threat ability. Later, another pass to Morelez sealed the deal, with the offense firing on all cylinders.
After the game, Ryan Reyna spoke about the team’s progress. “Yes, sir, we had a rocky start early in the season going 1-3, but we came back. I told my teammates to keep their heads up and focus on the next play. It's all about moving forward and improving.”
Coach Littleton echoed the sentiment, focusing on the team’s ability to keep getting better each week. “We knew we had a tough schedule, but these boys understand that the team that improves every week will be the one that has a chance in the playoffs. We’re going to keep pushing, especially with a tough matchup against Donna North coming up.”
Despite some areas needing improvement, especially on execution, both Reyna and Coach Littleton expressed confidence in the team’s direction. They’ve built a strong foundation and plan to keep the momentum going into the next week’s game.
